Chimilin is a French commune with 1,452 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs administratively to the Arrondissement La Tour-du-Pin and is part of the canton Chartreuse-Guiers (until 2015: canton Le Pont-de-Beauvoisin ).

Chimilin is about 23 kilometers west of Chambéry . The Bièvre limits the commune to the east. Chimilin is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Corbelin in the north and north-west, Granieu in the north, Aoste in the north and north-east, Romagnieu in the east, Les Abrets in the south, Fitilieu in the south-west and La Bâtie-Montgascon in the west.

The A43 autoroute runs through the municipality .
