Valencogne is a French municipality with 689 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; administratively it belongs to the arrondissement of La Tour-du-Pin and is part of the canton of Le Grand-Lemps (until 2015: canton of Virieu ). The inhabitants are called Valencognards .

Valencogne is located about 62 kilometers east-southeast of Lyon . Valencogne is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Saint-Ondras in the north, Paladru in the east, Le Pin in the south and south-west, Val-de-Virieu with Virieu in the south-west and Chélieu and Chassignieu in the west and north-west.
