geography
Vézeronce-Curtin is located 50 kilometers southeast of Lyon , 16 kilometers northeast of Bourgoin-Jallieu and 12 kilometers north of La Tour-du-Pin , between the neighboring communities of Saint-Sorlin-de-Morestel in the south, Vasselin in the southwest and the canton capital Morestel in North. The hamlets of Curtin and Charray are part of the municipality.
history
Historical importance was the small town by the Battle of Vézeronce (former name: Veseruntia ) on June 21, 524, in the Burgundians under Godomar II. In Burgundy war one last victory against the Franks succeeded before they were able to incorporate 534 Burgundy.
Vézeronce-Curtin was on the border with Savoy , there is still an old customs building from the 18th century. In 1871 a Gallic helmet was found in the hamlet of Curtin , which is now in the Museum of Grenoble (Musée dauphinois) . The helmet must have belonged to a high-ranking personality and is therefore attributed to Chlodomer , who perished in the battle of Vézeronce and whose grave was never found.
1793 received Vézeronce-Curtin as Vezeronce in the course of the French Revolution (1789-1799) the status of a municipality and 1801 as Vezeronca the right to local self-government. On January 1, 1973 Curtin was incorporated and Vézeronce was renamed Vézeronce-Curtin.
coat of arms
The coat of arms of the municipality shows a silver helmet on a blue background studded with golden nails. It is reminiscent of the helmet that was found in 1871.
