Granieu is a French municipality with 501 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs administratively to the Arrondissement La Tour-du-Pin and is part of the canton Chartreuse-Guiers (until 2015: canton Le Pont-de-Beauvoisin ). The inhabitants are called Granieulans .

geography

Granieu is about 28 kilometers west of Chambéry . The Bièvre crosses the commune. Granieu is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Avenières in the north and north-west, Saint-Genix-sur-Guiers in the east, Chimilin in the south and Corbelin in the west.
