Bilieu is a French commune with 1,544 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; administratively it belongs to the arrondissement of La Tour-du-Pin and is part of the canton of Le Grand-Lemps (until 2015: canton of Virieu ). The inhabitants are called Billantins .

geography

Bilieu is located about 66 kilometers southeast of Lyon and about 31 kilometers north-northwest of Grenoble . The municipality is located on the southeast bank of the Lac de Paladru . Bilieu is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Montferrat in the north, Saint-Sulpice-des-Rivoires in the northeast, Massieu in the east, Chirens in the south, Charavines in the southwest and Le Pin in the west.
