Pont-de-Chéruy is a French municipality with 5772 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Isère in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Pont-de-Chéruy is located in the La Tour-du-Pin arrondissement and is the main town ( chef-lieu ) of the Charvieu-Chavagneux canton . The inhabitants are called Pontois (es) . The Gindre Group , a large manufacturer of semi-finished copper products, is based in Pont-de-Chéruy .

Pont-de-Chéruy is located about 28 kilometers east of Lyon on the Bourbre River . Pont-de-Chéruy is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Chavanoz in the north and northwest, Tignieu-Jameyzieu in the east and south, and Charvieu-Chavagneux in the southwest and west.
history
A medieval bridge is proven. During the Roman road there was either a bridge or a ford of the via publica Vetus from Lyon (Lugdunum) to Geneva (Genava). Pont-de-Chéruy has been the capital of a canton since 1968.
