geography
The municipality is located about 30 kilometers east of Lyon on the Rhône . Saint-Romain-de-Jalionas is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Loyettes in the north, Vernas in the northeast, Leyrieu in the east, Crémieu in the southeast, Villemoirieu in the south, Tignieu-Jameyzieu in the west and southwest and Chavanoz in the northwest.
