geography

Ruy is located in the valley of the Bourbre river , which borders the municipality to the south. Ruy is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Savin in the north, Montcarra in the north-east, Rochetoirin in the east, Cessieu in the south and south-east, Sérézin-de-la-Tour in the south, Nivolas-Vermelle in the south-west and Bourgoin-Jallieu in the west and north-west.

The A43 autoroute runs through the municipality from Lyon to Italy.
