The Communauté d'agglomération Porte de l'Isère is an association of municipalities in the French department of Isère , whose administrative headquarters are in the town of L'Isle-d'Abeau .

The community association consists of 22 communities on an area of ​​245.9 km ² . Among the member municipalities are the small towns that line up southeast of Lyon along the main traffic axis that leads to the metropolitan areas of Grenoble and Chambéry . The name means something like gate to Isère. Jean Papadopulo, Mayor of Four, is the president of the association of local authorities founded in 2007 .

tasks

The compulsory competencies include the development and promotion of economic activities, urban development and extensive spatial planning based on an overarching framework plan ( Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale Nord-Isère ), which is supported by a total of 11 municipal associations. The Communauté d'agglomération determines housing policy, operates the road maintenance department, water supply, sewage disposal and waste management and is generally responsible for pollution control. In addition, the association builds and maintains cultural and sports facilities and promotes events in these areas.
