The Communauté de communes de l'Oisans is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the Isère département , the administrative seat of which is in Le Bourg-d'Oisans . It is located southeast of Grenoble and includes the landscape of Oisans . The Oisans essentially consists of the valley of the Romanche and the adjacent massifs of Belledonne and Écrins , in which part of the member communities are also located. The association of communes corresponds to the canton Le Bourg-d'Oisans and thus consists of 19 communes on an area of ​​546.1 km². Christian Pichoud is the president of the community association.

history

The current association of municipalities, founded on December 24, 2001, was created as an extension of the Communauté de communes des Deux Alpes , which had been founded eight years earlier and consists of the two municipalities of Mont-de-Lans and Vénosc , on whose territory the winter sports resort Les Deux Alpes is located. L'Alpe d'Huez is a second large ski area in the area of ​​the current municipal association. The formation of a comprehensive communauté de communes in the Oisans was therefore for a long time opposed to the extreme financial differences in the individual communities. For example, municipalities with only a tenth of the population of Bourg-d'Oisans outstrip its municipal budget by a factor of three due to income from winter sports alone, while the infrastructure requirements due to winter tourism are very high. This problem was solved by dispensing with the usual, population-weighted distribution of seats in the council of the municipal association, instead all municipalities received the same number of seats.

tasks

The competencies required include the development and promotion of economic activities and tourism as well as spatial planning on the basis of a Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale . The community association operates the road maintenance service and the garbage collection and disposal. It determines housing policy and builds and maintains cultural and sports facilities and promotes events in these areas. In addition, the association takes care of the maintenance of slaughterhouses and wholesale markets as well as one of the primary schools in the area.
