Historical development
The Communauté de communes du Pays du Grésivaudan was created on January 1, 2009 from the five dissolved Communautés de communes Balcon de Belledonne , Grésivaudan et son environnement , Haut Grésivaudan , Moyen Grésivaudan and Plateau des Petites Roches . On January 1, 2010, the municipalities of Venon and Vaulnaveys-le-Haut left the municipal association to join the Communauté d'agglomération Grenoble Alpes Métropole and the Communauté de communes du Sud Grenoblois , respectively .
With effect from January 1, 2017, the community association was renamed to the new name Communauté de communes Le Grésivaudan .
With effect from January 1, 2019, the former communes of La Ferrière and Pinsot became part of the Commune nouvelle Le Haut-Bréda . Likewise, the former municipalities of Saint-Hilaire , Saint-Bernard and Saint-Pancrasse went into the Commune nouvelle Plateau-des-Petites-Roches . This reduced the number of member communities to 43.
