Pontcharra is a municipality in the Grésivaudan natural landscape . The center of the village is 40 kilometers from Grenoble and 25 kilometers from Chambéry . Pontcharra is located on the Isère river and its tributary Bréda . Neighboring municipalities are: Chapareillan , Allevard , Barraux , Laissaud , Le Cheylas , La Buissière , Saint-Pierre-d'Allevard and Saint-Maximin . The districts of Pontcharra are, in addition to the center, Villard-Noir, Villard-Didier, Villard-Benoit, Grignon, Les Gayets, Les Epineys, La Perrière, Rochemorte, Malbourget, Le Caraillou, Le Plan and Papillard.
