Pontcharra-sur-Turdine is a commune Déléguée in the French community Vindry-sur-Turdine with 2,698 inhabitants (at January 1, 2017) in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes .
geography
Pontcharra-sur-Turdine is located in the Beaujolais wine-growing region on the Turdine , a tributary of the Brévenne . The neighboring municipalities of Pontcharra-sur-Turdine were Saint-Loup in the north, Les Olmes in the east and north-east, Saint-Romain-de-Popey in the south-east and Saint-Forgeux in the south and south-west.
The Autoroute A89 and Route nationale 7 run through the Commune déléguée .
history
Until 1840 the community belonged to the neighboring commune of Saint-Loup.
On January 1, 2019, the municipality of Pontcharra-sur-Turdine merged with Dareizé , Les Olmes and Saint-Loup to form the Commune nouvelle Vindry-sur-Turdine. Since then it has had the status of a Commune déléguée. The municipality belonged Pontcharra-sur-Turdine to the Arrondissement Villefranche-sur-Saône and the canton of Tarare .
