Vindry-sur-Turdine is a French commune with 5,133 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Villefranche-sur-Saône and the canton of Tarare .

It was created as Commune nouvelle with effect from January 1, 2019 by amalgamating the previous municipalities of Pontcharra-sur-Turdine , Dareizé , Les Olmes and Saint-Loup , all of which have the status of a Commune déléguée in the new municipality . The administrative headquarters are located in Pontcharra-sur-Turdine.

geography

The municipality is located around 30 kilometers northwest of Lyon. The A 89 motorway and the Turdine River run along the southern municipal boundary and the Soanan River at the northern boundary . Neighboring municipalities are: Saint-Vérand in the northeast, Sarcey in the east, Saint-Romain-de-Popey in the southeast, Saint-Forgeux in the southwest, Tarare in the west and Saint-Clément-sur-Valsonne in the northwest.
