Vernay is located about 35 kilometers southwest of Mâcon and about 30 kilometers northwest of Villefranche-sur-Saône . Vernay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Les Ardillats in the north, Saint-Didier-sur-Beaujeu in the south and east and Chénelette in the west.
