Valsonne is about 31 kilometers west-northwest of Lyon . The Soanan crosses the community and is used to drive a mill. Valsonne is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Appolinaire in the north, Dième in the east, Saint-Clément-sur-Valsonne in the south-east, Tarare in the south, Les Sauvages in the south-west, Amplepuis in the west and north-west and Ronno in the north-west.
