Pommiers is a French commune with 2,637 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Villefranche-sur-Saône and is part of the canton of Anse . The inhabitants are called gnocs .

geography

Pommiers is located about 20 kilometers north-northwest of Lyon in the Bourgogne wine-growing region in the Saône valley . Pommiers is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Gleizé in the north, Limas in the north and northeast, Anse in the south and east, Theizé in the southwest and Porte des Pierres Dorées with Liergues in the west.
