Poule-les-Écharmeaux is 52 kilometers north-northwest of Lyon , about 32 kilometers northeast of Roanne and about 26 kilometers northwest of Villefranche-sur-Saône . The Azergues rises here . Poule-les-Écharmeaux is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Propières in the north, Chénelette in the northeast, Saint-Didier-sur-Beaujeu in the east, Claveisolles in the southeast, Saint-Nizier-d'Azergues in the south, Ranchal in the southwest, Belleroche in the west.
