The Azergues is a river in France that runs in the Rhône department in the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region . It rises in the municipality of Poule-les-Écharmeaux , initially drains in a south-easterly direction, swings in the lower reaches northeast to north and flows into the Saône after 62 kilometers in the municipality of Anse as a right tributary . On its way, the Azergues crosses the Beaujolais wine region .
