Anse is a French municipality with 7178 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Villefranche-sur-Saône and is the main town (French: bureau centralisateur ) of the canton of Anse . The inhabitants are called Ansois .
location
Anse is located in the Bourgogne wine region , around 25 kilometers north of Lyon . Here the Azergues flows into the Saône . Anse is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Limas and Villefranche-sur-Saône in the north, Jassans-Riottier in the northeast, Saint-Bernard in the east, Ambérieux in the southeast, Lucenay in the south, Lachassagne in the southwest, Theizé in the west and Pommiers in the northwest.
The A6 autoroute runs through the municipality . Anse train station is on the Paris – Marseille railway line .
history
Anse goes back to a Roman fort from the 2nd century on the Roman road from Lyon to Autun . The fortified complex was named Asa Paulini .
