Légny is located around 23 kilometers northwest of Lyon and around 13 kilometers southwest of Villefranche-sur-Saône in the Bourgogne wine region . Légny is surrounded by the neighboring municipalities of Val d'Oingt with Le Bois-d'Oingt in the north and east, Le Breuil in the south, Sarcey in the west and south-west and Saint-Vérand in the west and north-west.
