The Communauté de communes Beaujolais Pierres Dorées is a French association of municipalities with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the Département Rhône , whose administrative seat is in the place Anse . Its area is about 20 km north of Lyon and includes much of southern Beaujolais . The part of the name Pierres Dorées is another name for this landscape and refers to the local limestone, colored by iron oxide in golden tones, from which numerous houses are built. At Anse, the area extends to the banks of the Saône . The community association currently consists of 32 communities and has 50,674 inhabitants (as of 2015) on an area of ​​249.43 km², its president is Daniel Paccoud.

Historical development

The Communauté de communes Beaujolais Pierres Dorées was created on January 1, 2014 from the merger of several older municipal associations. These goods:

• the Communauté de communes Beaujolais Saône Pierres Dorées, made up of 12 municipalities with Anse as its center, founded in July 1995 (with the exception of Liergues , which has joined the CA Villefranche Beaujolais Saône )
• the Communauté de communes Mont d'Or Azergues, made up of six municipalities on the eastern edge of Lyon, founded at the beginning of 1994 (with the exception of Quincieux , which joined the Communauté urbaine de Lyon in June 2014 )
• the Communauté de communes des Pays du Bois d'Oingt, made up of 18 municipalities that comprised the hilly wine-growing region around Le Bois-d'Oingt, founded at the end of 1996 (with the exception of Jarnioux and Ville-sur-Jarnioux , those of the CA Villefranche-Beaujolais -Saône joined)
• the Communauté de communes Beaujolais Val d'Azergues, made up of three municipalities near Lozanne , founded at the beginning of 1994.

With effect from January 1, 2017, the former municipalities of Liergues and Pouilly-le-Monial became part of the Commune nouvelle Porte des Pierres Dorées . This reduced the number of member communities to 32.

With effect from January 1, 2019, the former municipality of Jarnioux (formerly Communauté d'agglomération Villefranche Beaujolais Saône ) and the Commune nouvelle Porte des Pierres Dorées were merged into the new Commune nouvelle Porte des Pierres Dorées of the same name . This increased the number of inhabitants and the total area of ​​the association.

The competencies required include the development and promotion of economic activities and tourism as well as spatial planning on the basis of a Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale . The community association determines the housing policy. In environmental matters , he operates garbage collection and disposal and is generally responsible for pollution control. He also runs the road maintenance department and parts of local public transport / school bus transport. In addition, the association builds and maintains cultural institutions and promotes sporting events.
