The Communauté de communes de l'Est Lyonnais , abbreviated to CCEL , is a French association of communes with the legal form of a Communauté de communes in the Département Rhône , the administrative seat of which is in Genas . Its area is about 25 km east of Lyon and extends on a largely flat plain south of the Rhone . It covers a narrow strip of the department between the Métropole de Lyon and the Isère department . The community association founded at the end of 1993 consists of eight communities on an area of ​​141.2 km ² , its president is Paul Vidal.

The competencies required include the development and promotion of economic activities and tourism as well as spatial planning on the basis of a Schéma de Cohérence Territoriale . The community association determines the housing policy and is responsible for pollution control. The Lyon Saint-Exupery Airport is located within the Communauté de communes, but its operation is not one of their skills.
