Chevinay is a French municipality with 557 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It belongs to the arrondissement of Villefranche-sur-Saône and the canton of L'Arbresle .

geography

Chevinay is located about 16 kilometers west-northwest of Lyon in the Monts du Lyonnais and belongs to the wine-growing region Coteaux du Lyonnais . The Brévenne river limits the municipality to the north-west. Chevinay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sain-Bel in the north, Saint-Pierre-la-Palud in the east and northeast, Pollionnay in the east and southeast, Vaugneray in the southeast, Courzieu in the south, Bessenay in the west and Savigny in the northwest.
