Coteaux du Lyonnais
Coteaux du Lyonnais is a French wine-growing region that is attributed to the Beaujolais because of similar wines . The wine-growing region has had AOC status since May 9, 1984 . The Rhône wine-growing region begins immediately to the south . The 40 km long and a maximum of 30 km wide zone west of the city of Lyon is structured by a small chain of hills. The maximum height of these hills is 500 m . In 2008, around 14,000 hectoliters of wine were produced on 325 hectares . The share of red and rosé wines was 90 percent.
Grape varieties
In general, the yields are limited to 60 hectoliters / hectare.
The red and rosé wines are made from the Gamay grape variety . Before fermentation , the natural minimum sugar content of the must must be 162 g / l, which corresponds to an alcohol content of 10.5 percent by volume in the wine (→ must weight ).
The white wines may be made from the grape varieties Pinot Blanc / Chardonnay and Aligoté . The minimum sugar content for white wines is 144 g / l. Chaptalization is allowed.
