geography

Chaponost is a banlieue in the southwest of Lyon . Chaponost is surrounded by the neighboring communities Francheville in the north, Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon and Oullins in the north-east, Saint-Genis-Laval in the east, Brignais in the south, Soucieu-en-Jarrest in the south-west and Brindas in the west and north-west.

The Garon River limits the municipality to the southwest. Chaponost is located in the Coteaux du Lyonnais wine region .

Attractions

  • Roman aqueduct, built in the 2nd century under Hadrian. The aqueduct tapped the spring water of the Gier and transported it 86 kilometers. The remains in Chaponost have been designated as Monument historique since 2012 .
