Geographical location
Caluire-et-Cuire is a northern suburb of Lyons . The city lies between the Rhone , which forms the southeastern boundary and the Saône , which borders Caluire-et-Cuire in the northwest.
The municipality borders on the La Croix-Rousse district of Lyon to the south, Collonges-au-Mont-d'Or to the west, Fontaines-sur-Saône to the north, Rillieux-la-Pape to the northeast and Villeurbanne to the southeast .

history
Caluire and Cuire used to be parishes in the former province of Franc-Lyonnais .
Incorporations
The municipality of Caluire-et-Cuire was founded in 1790 (officially 1797). It emerged from the merger of the municipality of Caluire with the municipality of Cuire, which was formerly part of the municipality of Cuire-la-Croix-Rousse.
