Montanay is a commune with 3,142 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Métropole de Lyon in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Montanay belongs to the arrondissement of Lyon and until 2015 to the canton of Neuville-sur-Saône . The inhabitants are called Montanois .
geography
Montanay is located about 20 kilometers north of Lyon city center , near the eastern bank of the Saône . Montanay is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Genay and Civrieux in the north, Mionnay in the east, Cailloux-sur-Fontaines in the south and south-east, Fleurieu-sur-Saône in the south and Neuville-sur-Saône in the west and north-west.
