Solaize is about 15 kilometers south of Lyon on the Rhone . Solaize is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Feyzin in the north, Saint-Symphorien-d'Ozon in the east and south-east, Sérézin-du-Rhône in the south, Vernaison in the west and Irigny in the north-west.

The A7 autoroute runs through the municipality .
