Sathonay-Camp is a commune with 5934 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Métropole de Lyon in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Santhonay-Camp belongs to the Arrondissement of Lyon and was part of the canton of Rillieux-la-Pape until 2015 . The inhabitants are called Sathonards .
geography
Sathonay-Camp is located in the northeast of the greater Lyon area on the edge of the Monts d'Or and is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Sathonay-Village in the north, Rillieux-la-Pape in the east, Caluire-et-Cuire in the south and Fontaines-sur- Saône in the west.
The Sathonay-Rillieux station, which is served by the Paris-Lyon TGV and the LGV Sud-Est, is of particular importance.
history
From 1858 to 1997 Sathonay was a military base. The former parish of Sathonay was divided into Sathonay-Camp and the neighboring parish of Sathonay-Village in 1908. Sathonay originally belonged to the Ain department , in 1967 the successor communities came to the Rhône department.
