Mions is a French municipality with 13,542 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Métropole de Lyon in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . Mions is the most populous municipality in the canton of Saint-Symphorien-d'Ozon . The inhabitants are called Miolands .

Mions is located about 15 kilometers southeast of Lyon and is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Saint-Priest in the north, Toussieu in the east, Saint-Pierre-de-Chandieu in the southeast, Chaponnay in the southwest and Corbas in the west.

history

As Méons mentioned in 1193 in the books of the church at Lyon, the town in the late Middle Ages between Dauphin and the Count had been traded from the Savoy to the 1350th

The community was part of the Isère department until 1967 , when it changed to what is now the Rhône department.
