La Mulatière is a French municipality with 6334 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the Métropole de Lyon in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . La Mulatière is part of the arrondissement of Lyon and until 2015 belonged to the canton of Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon . The inhabitants are called mulatin (e) s .
geography
La Mulatière is located on the western city limits of Lyon at the confluence of the Saône and Rhône . Neighboring municipalities are Lyon in the north and east, Oullins in the south and Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon in the west.
The A7 autoroute runs through the municipality from Lyon to Marseille .
history
In 1885 what was then part of the commune of Sainte-Foy-lès-Lyon was raised to an independent commune.
