Chaussan is located about 20 kilometers southwest of Lyon in the Monts du Lyonnais of the Massif Central . The commune belongs to the Coteaux du Lyonnais wine-growing region . The neighboring municipalities of Chaussan are Rontalon in the north, Soucieu-en-Jarrest in the northeast, Saint-Laurent-d'Agny in the east, Mornant in the southeast, Chabanière with the Commune deleguée Saint-Sorlin in the south and Saint-André-la-Côte in the West.
