Location of the canton of Mornant in the Rhône department

The Canton Mornant is a French constituency in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It comprises 20 municipalities in the arrondissement of Lyon and has its main town (French:  bureau centralisateur ) in Mornant . It was enlarged considerably in 2015 as a result of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons.

Until the reorganization, the 13 municipalities of Chaussan , Mornant , Orliénas , Riverie , Rontalon , Saint-André-la-Côte , Saint-Didier-sous-Riverie , Saint-Laurent-d'Agny , Saint-Maurice-sur- Dargoire , Saint-Sorlin , Sainte-Catherine , Soucieu-en-Jarrest and Taluyers . Its layout corresponded to an area of ​​133.40 km ² . Before 2015, it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 6924, and until the creation of the Métropole de Lyon it belonged to the Arrondissement of Lyon .
