Vénissieux-Sud is a former French canton in the Arrondissement of Lyon and in the Rhône-Alpes region . It originally belonged to the Rhône department and included the southern part of the city of Vénissieux . The canton was abolished when the Métropole de Lyon replaced the Département Rhône as the higher-level regional authority in its catchment area at the turn of the year 2014/2015 and the cantons lost their function as constituencies. His last representative in the conseil général des Départements was Marie-Christine Burricand ( PCF ), she succeeded Guy Fischer (also PCF, term of office 1982-2008).
