The canton of Villeurbanne-Center was a French canton in the Arrondissement of Lyon and in the Rhône-Alpes region until 2015 . It originally belonged to the Rhône department and included the city center of Villeurbanne . The canton was abolished when the Métropole de Lyon replaced the Département Rhône as the higher-level regional authority in its catchment area at the turn of the year 2014/2015 and the cantons lost their function as constituencies. His last representative in the conseil général des Départements was Béatrice Vessiller ( EELV ), she succeeded Raymond Terracher ( PS , term of office 1992–2010) and Richard Llung (also PS, term of office 2010–2011).
