The Canton Villeurbanne-Sud was 2015 a French canton in the arrondissement of Lyon and the region Rhône-Alpes . It originally belonged to the Rhône department and included the southern part of the city of Villeurbanne . The canton was abolished when the Métropole de Lyon replaced the Département Rhône as the higher-level regional authority in its catchment area at the turn of the year 2014/2015 and the cantons lost their function as constituencies. His last representative in the conseil général des Départements was Claire Le Franc ( PS ), she succeeded Lilian Zanchi (also PS, term of office 2004-2011).
