The Canton Lyon-IX was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Lyon and in the French region of Rhône-Alpes . It originally belonged to the Rhône department and included part of the 7th district (French: 7 e arrondissement ) of Lyon . The canton was abolished when, at the turn of the year 2014/2015 , the Métropole de Lyon replaced the Département Rhône as the higher-level regional authority and the cantons lost their function as constituencies. The last representative in the conseil général des Départements was Sandrine Runel ( PS ), she succeeded Mireille de Coster (also PS, term of office 2001-2008).
