The Canton Tarare is a French constituency in the department of Rhône in the region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It comprises 18 municipalities in the arrondissement of Villefranche-sur-Saône and has its main town (French: bureau centralisateur ) in Tarare . It was enlarged in 2015 as a result of the nationwide reorganization of the French cantons.

Until the reorganization, the 16 municipalities of Affoux , Ancy , Dareizé , Dième , Joux , Les Olmes , Les Sauvages , Pontcharra-sur-Turdine , Saint-Appolinaire , Saint-Clément-sur-Valsonne , Saint-Forgeux , Saint- Loup , Saint-Marcel-l'Éclairé , Saint-Romain-de-Popey , Tarare and Valsonne . Its layout corresponded to an area of 196.79 km 2 . Before 2015 it had a different INSEE code than it does today, namely 6929.
