The canton of Irigny was a French canton in the arrondissement of Lyon in the Rhône-Alpes region until 2015 . The canton created in 1985 with Irigny as the main town belonged to the Rhône department and was abolished when the Métropole de Lyon replaced the Rhône department as the higher-level regional authority in its catchment area at the turn of 2014/2015 and the cantons lost their function as constituencies. The last and only representative in the conseil général des Départements was Jean-Luc da Passano ( UDF ) from 1985 to 2014 .
