The Arrondissement Lyon is an administrative unit of the Métropole de Lyon and part of the department Rhône in the French region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It consists of six cantons and 76 communes in the Rhône department and 59 communes in the Métropole de Lyon area. The Métropole de Lyon has no cantons. The capital ( prefecture ) is Lyon .
Historical development
On January 1, 2015, the Arrondissement of Lyon was limited to the area of the Métropole de Lyon and only included its municipalities .
This measure was withdrawn on February 1, 2017.
