The Arrondissement Clermont-Ferrand is an administrative district in the department of Puy-de-Dôme in the French region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The eponymous capital and prefecture of the department is Clermont-Ferrand .
history
On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Puy-de-Dôme department, a District de Clermont-Ferrand was also founded, although it was significantly smaller than today's arrondissement. With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the district, expanded by the District de Billom , became the arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand.

As a result of the reorganization of the arrondissements in 2017, the arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand became the 21 municipalities of Aurières , La Bourboule , Ceyssat , Gelles , Heume-l'Église , Laqueuille , Mazaye , Mont-Dore , Murat-le-Quaire , Nébouzat , Olby , Orcival , Parent , Perpezat , Plauzat , Rochefort-Montagne , Saint-Bonnet-près-Orcival , Saint-Julien-Puy-Lavèze , Saint-Pierre-Roche , Le Vernet-Sainte-Marguerite and Vernines assigned to the Arrondissement of Issoire , the 17th Municipalities of Bourg-Lastic , Briffons , Chanat-la-Mouteyre , Herment , Lastic , Lussat , Malintrat , Les Martres-d'Artière , Messeix , Prondines , Saint-Germain-près-Herment , Saint-Sulpice , Sauvagnat , Savennes , Sayat , Tortebesse and Verneugheol were assigned to the Arrondissement of Riom , the 4 municipalities of Bort-l'Étang , Moissat , Ravel and Saint-Flour were assigned to the Arrondissement Thiers and the 3 municipalities of Ceilloux , Domaize and Tours-sur-Meymont were assigned to the Arrondissement Ambert . The municipality of Châteaugay was assigned from the Arrondissement of Riom to the Arrondissement of Clermont-Ferrand.
