The Arrondissement Le Puy-en-Velay is an administrative district in the department of Haute-Loire in the French region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The eponymous capital and prefecture of the department is Le Puy-en-Velay .
history
On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Haute-Loire department, a District du Puy was also founded, which essentially coincided with today's arrondissement. The district was transferred to the new Arrondissement Le Puy with the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800.
From September 10, 1926 to June 1, 1942, the area of the meanwhile dissolved arrondissement Yssingeaux also belonged to the arrondissement Le Puy-en-Velay.

The Arrondissement borders in the north on the Arrondissement Ambert in the Puy-de-Dôme , in the northeast on the Arrondissement Yssingeaux , in the southeast on the Arrondissement Tournon-sur-Rhone and Largentière in the Ardèche , in the southwest on the Arrondissement Mende in the Lozere department ( Occitania ) and in the west to the Arrondissement Brioude .
