Saint-Hostien ( Occitan : Saint Ostian ) is a French municipality with 755 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes ; it belongs to the arrondissement Le Puy-en-Velay and the canton Emblavez-et-Meygal (until 2015: canton Saint-Julien-Chapteuil ).

Saint-Hostien is in the Velay countryside . Saint-Hostien is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Le Pertuis in the north and northeast, Queyrières in the east, Saint-Pierre-Eynac in the south and southwest and Saint-Étienne-Lardeyrol in the west.

The national route 88 runs through the municipality .

In 1852 the neighboring municipality of Le Pertuis was separated from the municipality.
