Vernassal is about 20 kilometers northwest of Le Puy-en-Velay . Vernassal is surrounded by the neighboring communities Allègre in the north, Céaux-d'Allègre in the east and northeast, Lissac in the east and southeast, Vazeilles-Limandre in the south and southwest and Fix-Saint-Geneys in the west.
