The canton Allègre is a former French canton in the arrondissement Le Puy-en-Velay in the Haute-Loire department in the Auvergne region , which existed until 2015 .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "District of Le Puy".

With the founding of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Le Puy.

The canton bordered in the north on the canton La Chaise-Dieu in the arrondissement Brioude and the canton Craponne-sur-Arzon , in the east on the canton Vorey , in the southeast on the canton Saint-Paulien , in the south on the cantons Loudes and Langeac in the arrondissement Brioude and in the west to the canton Paulhaguet , also in the arrondissement of Brioude.
