The canton Brioude-Sud was 2015 a French canton in the Arrondissement Brioude in the Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne .

history

The canton was founded on March 4, 1790 as part of the establishment of the départements as part of what was then the "Brioude District".

With the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800, the canton was redesigned as part of what was then the arrondissement of Brioude.

The canton bordered the canton Brioude-Nord in the north, the canton Paulhaguet in the east, the canton Lavoûte-Chilhac in the south and the canton Blesle in the west .
