The Arrondissement Brioude is an administrative district in the department of Haute-Loire in the French region of Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . The main town ( sub-prefecture ) is Brioude .
history
On March 4, 1790, with the establishment of the Haute-Loire department, a District de Brioude was also founded, which essentially coincided with today's arrondissement. The district was transferred to the new Arrondissement Brioude with the establishment of the arrondissements on February 17, 1800.
On January 1, 2007, the municipalities of the canton of Saugues moved from the Arrondissement Le Puy-en-Velay to the Arrondissement Brioude.

The arrondissement borders in the north on the arrondissements Issoire and Ambert in the department Puy-de-Dôme , in the east and southeast on the arrondissement Le Puy-en-Velay , in the south on the arrondissement Mende in the department Lozère ( Occitania ) and in the west on the Arrondissement Saint-Flour in the Cantal department .
