Josat ( identical in Occitan ) is a French commune with 84 inhabitants (as of January 1, 2017). It is located in the department of Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes (before 2016 Auvergne ) and belongs to Arrondissement Brioude and the Canton Pays de Lafayette (2015 Paulhaguet ).

Josat is located about 28 kilometers northwest of Le Puy-en-Velay . Josat is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Collat in the north, La Chapelle-Bertin in the east, Varennes-Saint-Honorat in the south-east, Jax in the south, Mazerat-Aurouze in the south-west and Sainte-Marguerite in the west.
