Vergongheon is a French commune with 1,851 inhabitants (as of January 1 2017) in the department of Haute-Loire in the region Auvergne Rhône-Alpes . It is located in the Arrondissement of Brioude and in the Canton of Sainte-Florine (until 2015: Canton of Auzon ). The inhabitants are called Vergongheonnais .

geography

Vergongheon is about 50 kilometers south-southeast of Clermont-Ferrand on the Leuge River . The river Vendage flows into the Allier at the eastern border of the municipality . Vergongheon is surrounded by the neighboring communities of Frugerès-les-Mines in the north and north-west, Sainte-Florine in the north, Vézézoux in the north-east, Auzon in the east, Azérat in the south-east, Cohade in the south and south-east, Bournoncle-Saint-Pierre in the south and Lempdes- sur-Allagnon to the west.
